We are thrilled to announce that Imperial Hackathon Hong Kong 2025 is officially open for registration today! This is one of Imperial’s most exciting innovation challenges for students in Hong Kong – and Hackathon is not just for coders or engineers. Returning applicants/teams are welcome to join again!

What’s new this year?

  • Policy-Driven Challenges: All main themes/challenges are inspired by the Hong Kong Policy Address, tackling real-world issues.

  • Wildcard Track: For students who want to bring forward a challenge & real problem they care deeply about – yes, it could be anything from fashion to food!

  • Interdisciplinary Focus: We welcome students from all STEM fields and beyond, including biology, chemistry, business, design, social sciences, and the arts. The best teams combine scientists, researchers, coders, designers, strategists, and storytellers.

Why join?

  • Harness Super-curricular Potential: A highly recommended way to demonstrate intellectual curiosity and problem-solving beyond the classroom - ideal for future university applications.

  • Real-World Impact: Students who are selected as finalists will present their solutions to Imperial Admissions Tutors & Hong Kong government officials at the Grand Finale.

  • Grand Prize: Each winning team member (and their chaperone) will receive HKD 8,000 towards flights to London next summer for an exclusive Imperial experience and a direct entry to the UN Global Natural Science & Innovation Competition Finals.
