CUHK Jockey club eye care programme - Fun Day


DBS will send a team of volunteers to serve in the CUHK Jockey club eye care programme - Fun Day.

This is an annual event for the programme and students will help with some of the routines we had previously carried out in the eye hospital, plus we will help to educate the public about eye care. This is therefore also a kind of medicine-related volunteer work.

HKU Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies 2022 Admissions


Student who wish to apply for admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies (BA(AS)) at HKU are required to take in an online Aptitude Exercise. The Aptitude Exercise is scheduled from noon, 27 December to noon, 31 December 2021. Student who have submitted their applications before the respective deadlines (17 Nov for Non-JUPAS first round and 8 Dec for JUPAS) and who have included BA(AS) as one of their program choices should expect to receive the invitations and instructions to take part in the Aptitude Exercise on 22 December 2021.

Canada: Art & Design Universities Canada Fall 2021 Online Information Sessions (30 Sept 2021)


Art & Design Universities Canada (ADUC) is a consortium of the country’s four specialized art and design universities: Alberta University of the Arts (Calgary, Alberta), Emily Carr University of Art & Design (Vancouver, British Columbia), NSCAD University (Halifax, Nova Scotia), and OCAD University (Toronto, Ontario). Their main mission is to promote the importance of pursuing a creative higher education degree in Canada.  This fall, the consortium will be hosting three virtual information sessions. These sessions will be a great way for higher education advisors and prospective applicants and their supporters from around the world to learn more about why to study art, design and media in a specialized Canadian institution. The session will cover information about each respective university, creative education in Canada, portfolio preparation, and careers in our country’s creative industries. Dr Kirsten Harris, Deputy Head of School in Liberal Arts, will give you insight into the BA Liberal Arts course, an exciting programme which introduces you to a broad range of intellectual approaches and content, and prioritises critical thinking over content acquisition. She will introduce you to their distinctive "problem-based learning" methodology, where you understand a topic by examining complex problems from a variety of perspectives and develop your own distinctive stance. Romain Chenet, Director of Student Experience for Global Sustainable Development, will then share a glimpse into the BASc Global Sustainable Development course, an innovative programme that challenges you to think critically about sustainable development's 'big scary problems' and to cnsider practical, real-world solutions to these as a form of active global citizenship. Romain is a former International NGO worker and global development professional, and is now a researching lecturer into the policy-enabled changes that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development can help foster.

Every year WES invite a diverse range of world-renowned speakers to host talks, events and seminars. The presenter for the event is Dr. Wai-Kit Ming, Assistant Professor from the Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, City University of Hong Kong, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Sun Yat-sen University, China. While studying MBBS and MD at Jinan University, he obtained master degrees in public health from the University of Hong Kong and from Harvard University. Following his postdoctoral training at the University of Oxford and Harvard University, he became a visiting research fellow at the University of Oxford and at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit in the United Kingdom. He served as a CEO of a medical device company and has 13 national patents for medical devices. Dr Ming's work revolves around COVID-19 research that has major population health impacts locally and internationally. He published over 52 scholarly papers including two as covers of a medical journal.
